A BRIEF OVERVIEW

Cannabidiol, or CBD for short, above all else is a cannabinoid. Cannabinoids are derived from plants like hemp or cannabis. Think of them like the individual nutrients that can be extracted in the same way that vitamin C can be extracted from apples.

CBD is one of many cannabinoids that comes from hemp and marijuana plants alike. Latest science suggest there are 113 cannabinoids in total and that there may be more. Tentrahydrocannabinol or THC is the most well known cannabinoid and is the psychoactive molecule that gets you "stoned" when smoked or ingested.

CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid in that it does not get you "high" and boast almost zero negative side effects.

In 1992 it was discovered that humans and animals have what is called an Endocannabinoid system. This system is comprised of CB1 and CB2 receptors. These receptors are present throughout the entire central and peripheral nervous systems. CBD acts like a key to these receptor site "locks" and give the body the essential cannabinoid nutrients it needs to help bring the body back into a state of homeostasis.

CBD is not weed. It wont get you high. So don't worry.

Full-spectrum vs Isolate

There are two different types or "formulas" of CBD. Full-spectrum and Isolate.

Lets start with Isolate.

Isolate CBD is quite simply the "isolated" CBD molecule. Nothing else. Isolate CBD blends will contain 99.9% pure CBD usually mixed with coconut oil, flavor, and whatever other medium the manufacturer chooses to use.

Isolate CBD is THC free and also free of all other cannabinoids.

Isolate CBD is a good choice for those who need to avoid even trace amounts of THC due to personal or legal reason or who may need to take drug tests.

Now..

Full-spectrum CBD is derived from a whole plant extract that includes all  cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids present in the hemp plant during extraction.

Full-spectrum CBD contains trace amounts of THC and other cannabinoids which, when combined, produces what is called the "Entourage Effect".

The entourage effect happens when all the cannabinoids work together synergistically within the endocannabinoid system, producing a more potent effect.
